Genesis 1:28 --
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the
birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
Psalms 8:5 --
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him
with glory and honor. Psalms 8:6 -- You have made him to have dominion over the
works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,
Rule over your world, your environment and whatever
attempts to limit you, underestimate you, undervalue you, exploit you, and
intimidate you to inaction. Beloved, you have been capacitated by God to rule
over your world. Please read Genesis Chapter 1 verse 28, and Psalm 110 verses 2
to 3. In Genesis Chapter 26 the Bible record how Isaac ruled over the
limitations on hi path in Gerar. Rather than set up a lamentation over the
antics of the herdsmen of Gerar, Isaac dug
up more wells until he found Rehoboth and the contention over wells stopped.
Jesus in the course of his earthly ministry was
daily harassed by the Pharisees and Sadducees. Yet, Jesus did not lose focus of
his earthly ministry. He continued strong and ruled in the midst of His enemies
despite the fierce opposition and threats to his life.
The Apostle Paul ruled in the midst of his numerous
enemies. One of such enemies were the Jews who were fiercely opposed to Paul’s
preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Though several attempts were made
against his life by the Jews and their cohorts in about everywhere Paul went to
preach the gospel, Paul kept preaching the gospel and in the process converted
many people to Christ. Additionally, he set up Churches and raised leaders
within the Churches to continue the work. That way, the Apostle Paul ruled
effectively in the midst of his enemies.
Elijah ruled in the midst of powerful spiritual and
political enemies. The prophets of Baal who led the people of Israel astray in
idolatrous worship had the strong backing of Jezebel, the wife of Ahab, the
then King of Israel. They held sway over the lives of the people, entrenching
the worship of idols and evil in the land. But Elijah was undaunted despite
threats to his life by Jezebel. Elijah constantly stood on the word of God and
decreed the righteousness of God in the land. Eventually, after a time of
drought and famine, Elijah was used by God to not only destroy the evil hold of
the prophets of Baal over the people but also destroyed the prophets of Baal.
Though he incurred the wrath of Jezebel who further threatened his life, God
spared Elijah’s life.
Jacob had to rule over the antics of Laban in
Laban’s house. But for the divine wisdom of God given to Jacob to rule, he
would have remained in Laban’s house; herding Laban’s flock without ever raisin
his own flock and moving on to Canaan, his divine inheritance which was
patiently waiting for him.
David exercised dominion against Goliath, against
Saul and later against all their surrounding neighbors until he subdued them
and they became his vassals who kept paying tribute to Israel even after David
had left planet earth.
Beloved, you can also rule in the nations with God
given wisdom and be a reference point. The biblical Daniel for instance played
key roles in the kingdoms of Babylon and that of the Persians and the Medes
despite the strong opposition he faced from those who envied him. Significantly,
Daniel was not confrontational. He deployed the wisdom of God in ruling in the
midst of his enemies. You can also be the Daniel of your generation in whatever
nation of the world God planted you to exercise dominion. Please read Daniel
Chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 for details.
