The Place of Justice in Healing the Nations

King Solomon was feared and respected in the land of Israel because he administered justice in the land. It is significant to note that King Solomon’s ability to administer justice in the land was on account of the wisdom of God in him. On his own, Solomon would not have been able to administer justice in the land. But because Solomon had earlier on asked God for wisdom; an understanding heart to judge the people of God so that he would be able to discern between good and evil; he was able to administer justice in the land. The Bible records that the request of Solomon pleased the Lord and God Who always exceeds the expectations of His loved ones gave Solomon additional blessings. Please see 1^st Kings Chapter 3 verses 1 to 28, take note of verses 9 to 14, 27 to 28 and Ephesians Chapter 3 verse 20.

Beloved, the administration of justice in any land; even in families, corporations, institutions and communities is to a large extent pivotal to peace and economic prosperity in any land. The land of Israel experienced and enjoyed peace and economic prosperity during the reign of Solomon. Please see 1^st Kings Chapters 4 verses 24 to 34, take note of verses 24 to 25; 5 verse 12; 10 verses 24 to 29, take note of verse 27 and 2^nd Chronicles Chapter 9 verses 22 to 28. The land also enjoyed sustainable development, great international trade, fame ad human capacity development. A good number of Israelites were trained in Tyre to cut timber and prepare for building. Please see 1^st Kings Chapter 5 verses 13 to 14.

The example of Solomon implies that the administration of justice in any land is pivotal and therefore a critical factor of peace, economic prosperity, infrastructural and human capacity development in the land. That explains why the mother of King Lemuel counseled King Lemuel to avoid promiscuity and intoxicating drink so that he would give prime attention to the law; he would not forget the law and pervert justice in the land. She further counseled him to speak for the speechless, the voiceless and vulnerable in the society; judge righteously and plead the cause of the poor and needy in the land. Please see Proverbs Chapter 31 verses 1 to 9. This counsel is very significant for anyone who aspires to lead over people. This is because justice is a firm ladder for leading successfully and living a legacy of peace, economic prosperity and happiness in the land.

Prophetic Declarations and Actions

Prophetic declarations and actions are divine activities prompted and directed by the Holy Spirit to achieve divine purposes that bring glory to God. A number of Biblical examples attest to this. Significantly, about every prophetic declaration and action births miracles which bring about deliverance, healing, financial breakthroughs, salvation, expansion, abundance and victory in warfare.

Prophetic declarations as well as prophetic actions are proactive measures, preparatory activities to breakthroughs and miracles. For example, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’. They are usually specific, easy to understand instructions and when obeyed often bring about instant results (fill up the water pots with water and the water became very sweet wine; the man who had been ill for thirty eight years who became whole after Jesus made the pronouncement) though in some cases, results are progressive or set to a particular timeline, for instance the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

They may not sound reasonable, logical, and plausible but they usually hold the very much required key to the sometimes urgently desired, awaited, and longed for miracle or blessing. They may not even have a connection to the desired miracle, for instance how do you speak to or make a rock to produce water? How does a cripple or paralytic person rise to take up a bed s/he has always laid on when the ailment is still there? How does the filling up of water pots with water solve the issue of finished wine at a wedding ceremony? How does dipping in a river seven times cleanse leprosy? How does going to show oneself to a priest when one is still leprous translate to cleansing from leprosy? How does borrowing jars and filling them up with a little jar of oil translate to financial freedom?

Prophetic declarations most often do not make sense. Elisha was told that he would receive double portion unction if he saw Elijah being taken up to glory. That was exactly what happened.

The Contributions of Exceptional Mothers to the Healing of the Nations

There are several dimensions to healing the nations. One of them is godly parenting that incorporates the fear of God and respect for other people into the consciousness of the child.

The Mother of King Lemuel Proverbs Chapter 30 verses 1 to 9

Though her name is not mentioned in the Bible, the name of her son, King Lemuel is mentioned, significantly in connection with what his mother taught him (Please see Deuteronomy Chapters 6 verses 6 to 9, 4 verses 5 to 10). The Bible states that King Lemuel’s mother instructed him to practice justice and equity in his domain, to open his mouth for the speechless, that is to speak for those who  had no voice in the society, intervene in cases of people sentenced to death, to plead the cause of the poor and needy.

King Lemuel was instructed by his mother to speak up at all times and judge righteously as a King. This instruction is in keeping with the word of God in Proverbs Chapter 16 verse 12, 20 verse 8, 29 verses 4 and 14.

To rule effectively, and to dispense justice in the land, King Lemuel’s mother cautioned her son not to engage in that which destroys king which she enumerated as – give his strength to women, drink wine or intoxicating drink. She noted that when kings multiply women against the commandments of God (Deuteronomy Chapter 17 verses 14 to 20) and rise to drink wine and intoxicating drink, they forget the law and pervert the justice of all the afflicted. She therefore instructed her son quite early in life not to engage in such destructive activities.

The mother of King Lemuel was an exceptional mother, in point of fact, one of the mothers to be celebrated. She had a godly view and understanding of kingship – to rule in the fear of God and be a blessing to humanity. She is different from the likes of Jezebel and Athalliah who used positions of power for oppression; and for promoting the practice of idolatry in the land.
