Prophetic declarations and actions are divine
activities prompted and directed by the Holy Spirit to achieve divine purposes
that bring glory to God. A number of Biblical examples attest to this.
Significantly, about every prophetic declaration and action births miracles
which bring about deliverance, healing, financial breakthroughs, salvation, expansion,
abundance and victory in warfare.
Prophetic declarations as well as prophetic actions
are proactive measures, preparatory activities to breakthroughs and miracles. For
example, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’. They are usually specific, easy to
understand instructions and when obeyed often bring about instant results (fill
up the water pots with water and the water became very sweet wine; the man who
had been ill for thirty eight years who became whole after Jesus made the
pronouncement) though in some cases, results are progressive or set to a
particular timeline, for instance the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
They may not sound reasonable, logical, and
plausible but they usually hold the very much required key to the sometimes
urgently desired, awaited, and longed for miracle or blessing. They may not
even have a connection to the desired miracle, for instance how do you speak to
or make a rock to produce water? How does a cripple or paralytic person rise to
take up a bed s/he has always laid on when the ailment is still there? How does
the filling up of water pots with water solve the issue of finished wine at a
wedding ceremony? How does dipping in a river seven times cleanse leprosy? How
does going to show oneself to a priest when one is still leprous translate to cleansing
from leprosy? How does borrowing jars and filling them up with a little jar of
oil translate to financial freedom?
Prophetic declarations most often do not make sense.
Elisha was told that he would receive double portion unction if he saw Elijah
being taken up to glory. That was exactly what happened.
Prophetic declarations and actions by Jesus Christ
He instructed Peter to let down his nets for a
catch. Peter was overwhelmed. Please see Luke Chapter 5 verses 4 to 6.
He asked the man who had been bedridden for thirty
eight years to rise and take up his bed and walk. Please see John Chapter 5 verses 6 to 9.
He asked the lepers to go show themselves to the priests.
Please see Luke Chapter 17 verses 12 to 19.
He asked the man with the withered hand to stretch
out his hand. Please see Luke Chapter 6 verse 10.
He told the paralytic brought in by his friends
through the roof top that his sins were forgiven and he should therefore arise
and take up his bed and go to his house. Please see Luke Chapter 5 verses 20, 24 to 25.
Jesus gave the prophetic word to fill the water pots
with water. The servants obeyed Jesus and filled the water pots with water to
the brim.
He asked the servants to fill the water pots with
water; and draw some out and take to the master of the feast. Please permit me
to ask, why the master of the feast? Perhaps, so he could announce the presence
and abundance of the new tasty wine that had replaced the old and exhaustible.
Beloved, with Jesus Christ, there is never exhaustible in anything. It is
always abundance and inexhaustible. Jesus Christ represents the new wine, the inexhaustible
and abundant wine, the manifold grace of God that brings glory, joy, happiness,
healing, deliverance, salvation, redemption, justification and sanctification
to humanity. Why only water for the water pots and not the other ingredients
that are required for making wine? Jesus Christ, the pure and undiluted word of
God and the Holy Spirit Whom every believer receives after salvation represent
the Living Water that never runs dry, the inexhaustible water of life that
answers to every human need including the need for wine that makes the heart of
man glad (Please see Psalm 104 verses 15); as well as water for cleansing, cleansing
our souls of the filth of sin. Please see Ephesians Chapter 5 verse 26 and John
Chapter 4 verses 10 to 14.
Water is very significant to human existence but the
water referred to here is not the physical water that humans use for drinking,
cooking, washing, etc. the water referred to here is the word of God. The word
of God is vital to human existence both on earth and in eternity. Like water,
the word of God gives life; life on earth alongside all the good things of life
as well as life in eternity. The word of God guarantees life in eternity. This
is because the word of God daily
cleanses a person from sin, gives clear divine direction and makes a way where
there is no way.
Each time we take in the word of God afresh through
daily Bible reading and study and then meditate on the word and also prophesy
the word to ourselves, our lives get better and sweeter as we are daily
transformed from one realm of gory to the other. Please see Proverbs Chapter 4
verse 18.
